The ASPCA collaborated with the Wood County Humane Society to rescue more than 30 cats from a property in Wayne, Ohio, where a pet owner was overwhelmed. ASPCA teams assisted in removing the animals from unsanitary and hazardous conditions and transported them to the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center in Columbus for forensic veterinary examinations, medical treatment, and behavioral care.

This rescue effort in Ohio is part of a broader initiative, as ASPCA teams have also recently assisted with the transport and rescue of over 60 cats in California and New York City. In California, the ASPCA helped relocate 50 cats from OC Animal Care to accommodate those displaced due to a chemical tank malfunction. In New York City, the ASPCA, in partnership with the New York City Police Department, is providing care for 14 cats and nine kittens born in their care after being removed from a suspected cruelty situation. The animals are receiving medical and behavioral treatment at the Manhattan facility while supporting an ongoing criminal investigation.
