Boise, Idaho (CBS2) - The Idaho Humane Society (IHS) has announced that a stray cat named Sandra is recovering well and is now available for adoption. She was brought to the shelter after being found by a Good Samaritan, who noticed that Sandra was limping and had a significant muscle loss in her left hind leg.

Upon examination at the Shelter Medical Center, veterinarians discovered that Sandra had been shot, resulting in a severe fracture that affected her ankle joint. The injury required surgical intervention to restore the leg's functionality.

Veterinarians performed a pantarsal arthrodesis, a procedure that permanently fuses the damaged joint, using a bone graft and a small locking plate for stabilization. While this surgery will affect Sandra's gait and mobility, her prognosis for comfortable use of the leg is good.

Despite her traumatic experience, staff describe Sandra as “still the most loving girl.” She has now officially joined the adoption floor, ready to find a new home.
