A truck from Córdoba, Argentina, was chosen for a non-invasive inspection. While analyzing the x-ray images from the radiological portal, customs experts noticed suspicious shapes within one of the spare wheels under the vehicle. This prompted a team of inspectors to remove and open the tire, confirming the presence of 384 boxes of veterinary medicine bottles.

The haul included 191 bottles of the MV Chinfield drug, a 50 ml cardiorespiratory stimulant frequently misused for doping racehorses, and 193 bottles of a 50 ml diuretic, which is used in both animals and humans to evade doping tests. The total value of the contraband was estimated to exceed $9,000.

Ángelo Vergara, Director of the Los Andes Regional Customs Office, highlighted the effectiveness of the National Customs Service’s operational capabilities. He noted that the successful detection was made possible through both technological resources and the expertise of customs officials in interpreting the x-ray images, preventing harmful goods from entering the country.
