As a municipal agency, Harrison County Animal Control cannot directly adopt animals to the public and primarily transfers cats to the Humane Society of Harrison County. However, the Humane Society is currently at full capacity and is unable to accept additional felines until space becomes available.

Community members can help by adopting or fostering cats at the Humane Society. Each adoption or foster placement creates vital space, allowing the Humane Society to rescue more cats from the municipal shelter. Animal Control officials are also reaching out to external rescue networks, fosters, and volunteer transporters, stating they are ready to arrange transportation to any shelter that can take in animals.
