Gelato arrived at the shelter in late June when he was discovered alongside other kittens. His spinal injury prevented him from using his back legs, prompting the staff to initially create a mobility device using cardboard, rulers, zip ties, and toy car wheels. An engineer later designed a more robust 3D-printed wheelchair for him.

The shelter has expressed gratitude to supporters who shared Gelato's journey and contributed to his care. The adoptive family has been informed that they will need to continue his therapy and daily care with the guidance of a veterinarian.
