The initiative aims to enhance the lives of shelter animals through efforts that include adoption, rescue, and health services. In 2025, approximately 5.8 million animals entered shelters in the U.S., with many awaiting loving homes. Subaru's contributions reinforce its dedication to animal welfare, bringing total donations to over $75 million since Subaru Loves Pets began.

In addition to the funding, Subaru will recognize National Make A Dog's Day on October 22, emphasizing the adoption of older dogs and those with disabilities, referred to as "Underdogs." Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, stated that finding a home for a shelter pet is vital to integrating these animals into families and lifestyles.

Throughout October, Subaru retailers will conduct various events aimed at promoting pet adoption and microchipping. The company is also implementing additional ways for communities to contribute. For instance, Subaru will donate $1 to the ASPCA for each new subscriber to Subie Texts, with a cap of $25,000, by texting PETS to 78243. Furthermore, Subaru will give $30 to the ASPCA for each purchase of select Genuine Subaru Pet-Friendly Accessories, up to $10,000, and $1 for each Animals Badge of Ownership ordered, up to $5,000.
