The event aimed not only to promote adoptions but also to raise funds for essential needs such as food and medical care for animals still awaiting homes. The shelter is currently over capacity, prompting concerns that the number of animals needing assistance could rise further.

In June 2025, the shelter reported a “Code Red” situation, with over 100 dogs and 170 cats in its care, despite a stated capacity of just 65 dogs and 65 cats.

Officials emphasized the importance of fostering, as temporary homes can help alleviate crowding and improve adoption chances for animals. Those unable to adopt are encouraged to support the shelter through donations.
