All cats have been transported to the shelter where they received examinations, vaccinations, and emergency housing. They range in age from less than one month to three years and are reported to be in good health and friendly with people.

The shelter clarified that this situation is not an investigation into cruelty or neglect, as the owner has passed and her family sought the shelter's assistance during their time of grief. However, it highlights the rapid multiplication of cats in a household if they are not spayed or neutered.

Before any of the cats can be adopted, they will need to undergo spaying or neutering. The large influx of animals has put additional pressure on Metro Animal Shelter, which was already at capacity prior to this call for help.

To support the shelter, community members are encouraged to adopt other cats or kittens currently available to create space for the new arrivals. Each adoption allows the shelter to provide additional care and attention to the new cats.

Additionally, donations of non-clumping kitty litter or funds for spay/neuter services, vaccinations, microchips, and medical care are welcomed. These contributions will help maintain low adoption fees, ensuring the cats can find homes quickly while receiving the best possible care.
