A Chatham dog recovering from drug exposure is set to be adopted soon. In September, the rescue group Pet & Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) took in Little Debbie, who was found seizing due to cocaine and amphetamines in her system. After the substances left her system, she stopped seizing but faced a difficult prognosis, including the possibility of permanent blindness.

Fortunately, Little Debbie appears to have regained most, if not all, of her vision. Myriam Armstrong, PAWR's executive director, expressed surprise at her recovery, stating, "She seems completely fine now. Our vet is pretty surprised."

For the past two weeks, Little Debbie has been living with a foster family, where she has been thriving. Armstrong noted that anyone unfamiliar with her past would view her as just a normal puppy. Reflecting on her condition when she was rescued, Armstrong said she had doubts about Little Debbie's recovery, commenting, "I never thought that she would recover. I didn't think she'd be able to walk, never mind running around playing, creating havoc in her foster home."

Little Debbie is expected to be officially adopted in the coming week. Meanwhile, Animal Welfare continues to investigate the circumstances that led to her exposure to illegal drugs, and Armstrong is looking forward to updates on the case.
