Recently, Elizabeth Hadley-Sievers adopted a Blue Tick Coon Hound named Blue from the shelter. She emphasized her commitment to adopting pets rather than buying them, stating that shelter dogs are incredibly loving and appreciative.
A community inquiry regarding the shelter's ability to manage the local stray dog population led to insights about its operations. Shelter technician Jordyn Evans reported that, despite their limited space, the shelter has cared for up to 32 dogs at a time. Evans explained that the shelter has consistently achieved a 90% live outcome rate, meaning that most dogs are either adopted, moved to rescues, or reunited with their owners.
In addition to the free adoption initiative, the shelter is seeking community support in the form of donations for food and medical care for the animals. Discussions about a potential expansion of the shelter have occurred, as noted by city officials, but would require significant fundraising efforts from the community.
Hadley-Sievers praised the shelter staff for their dedication and the quality of care they provide for the animals.
