To honor this month, the shelter is offering various promotions and hosting several events. A vaccine clinic is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, serving the first 75 attendees. Additionally, there will be a Trunk-or-Treat event on Friday, October 23, followed by an adoption event on Saturday, October 24.
The shelter regularly facilitates opportunities for individuals to foster animals, take them for short outings, or simply visit. Veterinary students from Purdue University handle many of the medical needs of the animals. Dr. Jessica Snyder, the shelter's medical director, noted that the students primarily perform surgeries, including spaying and neutering as well as more complex procedures like enucleations and amputations.
Sharon Dull, the founder of the Humane Society for Greater Lafayette, emphasized the importance of finding homes for the animals, stating, "This is a safe haven for any animal that’s lost, and we can keep them safe and cared for until their owner can reclaim or find a good and loving home."
