VIAN, Okla. (KFSM/CNN Newsource/WKRC) - A family who took in a pregnant stray cat was surprised to find that the new mother was also caring for a lost bunny. Kathy Price shared with local outlet KFSM that it is common for stray cats to wander into her home, where she often provides food and shelter. Her own cat, Miss Kitty, is a rescued stray from a long line of feral cats.

The stray mother cat arrived at Price's home in April. "I opened the door to bring her some cat food, and she ran in the house," Price said, noting that the cat appeared to be friendly, indicating she may have once had a home. Concerned for the cat's well-being after losing her family, Price soon discovered the cat was pregnant. On Memorial Day, the cat gave birth to three orange and two gray kittens.

During a routine check, Price’s husband remarked on the number of kittens, noting there seemed to be one more than expected. "I looked in and said, 'That's a bunny,'" she recalled. The bunny was found nestled among the kittens, and Price wondered if the mother cat would be able to nurse it. After researching online, she learned that it was not uncommon for cats to adopt other animals, saying, "Thank God it wasn't a rat."

Price confirmed that all the animals, including the bunny, are healthy and thriving. "He's hopping around and she's his mama," she stated. However, Price is concerned about the safety of the kittens, as her home is near a highway. She is hopeful that someone will adopt the entire family so the mother can raise her young ones together and eventually hopes to find a home for all, including the bunny, whom she believes can be released back into the wild once old enough.
