Girl Scouts Team Up with Sevier County Animal Shelter to Provide BarkBoxes for Shelter Dogs

Through the Fall Product program, community members can purchase a $30 BarkBox to donate to a dog at the shelter. Each BarkBox contains treats and toys designed to enrich the lives of dogs in shelter care. Proceeds from each sale contribute to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls in East Tennessee.

Lynne Fugate, CEO of the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians, stated, “Through fundraisers like the Fall Product Program, Girl Scouts build important life skills while supporting causes that matter to them and their communities. The BarkBox program demonstrates how even small but thoughtful contributions can make a positive impact.”

The themed BarkBox includes a plush dog squeak toy and Berry Trio™ treats, along with instructions on how dogs can earn Puppy Patches. These BarkBoxes are available as a one-time purchase and do not require a subscription. Donations can be made until October 21 at GirlScoutBarkBox.org, with donors able to select Sevier County Animal Shelter or another participating shelter.

The Sevier County Animal Shelter is a nonprofit organization focused on caring for lost, abandoned, and neglected animals while addressing the animal control needs of Sevier County, including Sevierville, Pittman Center, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg.

Additionally, BarkBoxes can be purchased for personal pets through the Fall Product Program, providing families an opportunity to include their pets in this initiative. Other items available for purchase include Tervis Tumblers, candles, and personalized stationery.

Girl Scout troops in the region have a longstanding tradition of supporting animal welfare through volunteer efforts. Looking to the future, the Girl Scouts will introduce their first dog-friendly cookie, Patch Pals™, which will be available exclusively through online ordering starting January 12, 2027, coinciding with the Girl Scout Cookie season.
