The Bengal cat secured the top position. This breed, a hybrid of domestic cats and the Asian leopard cat, retains a wild appearance but is known for being affectionate and trainable. Bengals are notably active and enjoy engaging play.
In second place is the British Shorthair, recognized by the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) as the most popular pedigree cat in the UK. Its gentle nature makes it suitable for families, and it can be left alone for up to three days. Regular activity is important for this muscular breed, which inspired the iconic Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
The Siberian cat ranks third. Designed for harsh winters, they have a water-resistant coat available in various colors and patterns. Siberians are intelligent and enjoy play, often demonstrating a fascination with water.
Ragdoll cats are fourth on the list. Known for their striking blue eyes and distinctive pointed coat, they mature slowly and are often likened to puppies due to their playful and sociable nature.
Fifth place goes to the European Shorthair, which is characterized by its adaptable personality and straightforward grooming needs, making it a good choice for novice cat owners. They are friendly but may be shy around strangers and come in a variety of eye colors.
