Undeterred, she contacted Jak's Second Chance Rescue Ranch, which promptly sent a rescue team. Upon arrival, the team found a dog basket in the ditch but initially could not locate the puppies. They set up humane traps to try to capture the mother dog and began searching the area.

After some time, rescuers found six puppies huddled together among branches. They gathered the puppies and wrapped them in a T-shirt to keep them warm. The team continued to search for the mother, and late that evening, just before midnight, she wandered into one of the traps. Exhausted, the mother dog drank a bowl of water, ate, and then rested while her puppies nursed.

The mother, named Jolene, and her six puppies—Dolly, Bowie, Jagger, Ozzy, Olivia, and Prince—are now in the care of the Forgotten Paws of Northwest Arkansas shelter, safe from the dangers they previously faced.
