In honor of Subaru Loves Pets Month, the event marks the first time Pocatello Animal Services has hosted a clinic outside the shelter. The service aims to provide affordable vaccinations for animals.
Microchipping offers a permanent identification solution, enabling vets or shelters to scan lost pets and reunite them with their owners.
The clinic will administer several vaccines, including the critical rabies vaccine. Sarah Moore, Animal Services Supervisor, encourages pet owners to bring any prior rabies vaccination paperwork to potentially qualify for a three-year vaccine instead of the standard one-year.
"We're offering the dog vaccine, which covers distemper and Parvo," Moore said, adding that the shelter has seen cases of panleukopenia among cats in the area. She emphasized the importance of keeping cats vaccinated due to the disease’s rapid spread.
"We're very excited to partner with Phil Meador Subaru to help our community care for their pets," Moore said, expressing hope that fewer pets would need to visit the shelter.
Pet owners attending the clinic will complete paperwork regarding their pets' vaccination history. The vaccination and microchipping process will take only a few minutes.
The clinic operates at Phil Meador Subaru in Pocatello from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 17. Attendees should bring their pet's vaccination documents and a valid driver's license.
