This October, the LA County Library is celebrating the community's role in providing shelter pets a second chance at finding loving homes. Adopting a pet not only means welcoming a new companion into your family but also helps create space for another pet in need.

In collaboration with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control, the library will host adoption clinics at various locations across Los Angeles County. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet pets, learn more about the adoption process, and even read to the animals present.
Those interested in adopting will have their application fee waived if they read to the pets at the event. However, a standard pet license fee will still apply: $20 for adults, $7.50 for seniors, and no fee for active-duty military members with valid ID.
To help prepare for bringing a new pet home, the library has curated a booklist featuring resources on pet health, behavior, training, and care. This collection aims to assist new pet owners in establishing a successful and fulfilling relationship with their companions.
