The Whisker Society Achieves 101 Cat Adoptions Since Opening

During the celebrations for the 100th adoption, the organization was thrilled that a bonded pair of cats, Max and Semeru, were adopted, helping them surpass the milestone. Executive Director Becca Tetzlaff expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, "We are just feeling really grateful that the community has embraced us in the way they have."

Max and Semeru, who initially arrived separately, formed a friendship at The Whisker Society. The organization provides a relaxed, homelike lounge where cats from other organizations can interact with visitors, allowing their personalities to shine. Tetzlaff noted that this environment helps cats become "really well-adjusted," which facilitates better matches with potential adopters. The lounge has hosted 4,985 visitors since opening on April 24, with an average of 18 cats in care at any given time.

The positive feedback from the community, along with the number of successful adoptions, has greatly motivated the staff and volunteers. Donations, including dry and wet cat food, also play a vital role in the Society's operations. Tetzlaff encouraged community members to visit their website for an Amazon wish list to support the organization.

Additionally, The Whisker Society is set to open a café, offering sweets from Sally’s Sweet Shoppe in Delafield and beverages, with a soft opening next week and a grand opening later in the month. The organization has also begun hosting events like cat yoga and book clubs, providing the community with opportunities to engage with the cats.

Tetzlaff remarked, "It has been really cool to provide a space for our community to come in and spend time with cats."
