MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) announced on Wednesday, September 30, that its shelter has reached capacity, housing 116 animals. This includes 55 cats and kittens as well as 61 dogs, all of which are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, making them immediately available for adoption.

Milwaukee County residents interested in adopting a pet aged four months or older will need to pay a $12 licensing fee. MADACC emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, "These animals are our neighbors' pets, strays found on our streets, and animals from right here in Milwaukee County. We're asking the community to step up and adopt locally: adopt from your community, for your community. When local families open their homes to local animals, we keep our shelter moving and make room for the next animal who needs us."

The organization is currently promoting adoption specials: fees for cats five months and older are waived, kittens under five months are available for $50, and dog adoption fees vary. With a particular need for dog adopters due to the number of dogs in care, MADACC encourages potential adopters to visit.

MADACC is located at 3839 W. Burnham Street, West Milwaukee. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information on available animals can be found on their website.
