Norman Animal Welfare Reaches Milestone of 1,000 Animal Transports with Dog Is My CoPilot

Norman Animal Welfare has transported over 1,000 animals to new homes through its collaboration with Dog Is My CoPilot. Recently, staff loaded 74 animals onto a flight bound for Colorado and Oregon, contributing to this significant achievement.

The initiative aims to address the capacity challenges faced by animal shelters by relocating animals to areas where they have a better chance of adoption. The Norman Police Department praised the efforts of both the Animal Welfare team and Dog Is My CoPilot for coordinating these life-saving transports.

"We’re incredibly proud of our Animal Welfare team for the care and hard work they put in every day, and grateful for our friends at Dog Is My CoPilot for a partnership that literally takes lifesaving work to the skies," the department stated.

Photos released by the Norman Police Department show the animals in carriers being prepared for the flight. The partnership is set to continue its work in finding homes for animals beyond the local shelter.
