The campaign collaborates with local animal shelters to encourage pet adoption and to raise funds for animal welfare programs. Interested participants can find information on shelters and make donations at ClearTheShelters.com. Shelters can register for participation through the new Shelter Registration Portal.
Since its start in 2015, Clear The Shelters has facilitated the adoption of over 1.3 million pets and raised more than $5.6 million for shelters and rescues. Greater Good Charities will once again lead the fundraising efforts, with general donations accepted until September 15. Donations for specific shelters will be open from August 1 to 31 via ClearTheSheltersFund.org.
For the eighth consecutive year, the campaign will include virtual pet adoptions through WeRescue, a platform that allows users to find adoptable pets by various criteria and interact with shelters directly.
Hill’s Pet Nutrition returns as the campaign’s national sponsor for the ninth year and this year assumes the role of presenting sponsor.
Clear The Shelters, launched following a successful 2014 pet adoption event in North Texas, is part of a nationwide drive led by NBCUniversal Local, partnering with animal shelters across the U.S. to promote pet adoptions. For further details, visit ClearTheShelters.com.
