The Open House invites the public to explore the world of veterinary medicine and the efforts aimed at improving both animal and human health. Attendees can participate in self-guided tours, hands-on activities, and learn about various aspects of veterinary medicine and animal care, without the need for prior registration.
Children are especially welcome to participate in the Teddy Bear Clinic, where they can bring their stuffed animals for fun “checkups” conducted by veterinary students. Attendees will also have the chance to learn about physical rehabilitation, along with visiting exhibits highlighting small and large animal medicine and community organizations.
One of the highlights will be the anatomy laboratory, featuring skeletons and preserved specimens used in veterinary education. Additionally, parades showcasing different breeds of dogs and horses are scheduled, and the Knoxville Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit will be present at 12:30 p.m.
Only registered service animals are permitted at the event; pets are not allowed. The Open House aims to enhance public understanding of veterinary medicine and the services provided by the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, established in 1974.
