The Florida Panthers have recognized Alyssa Dazza, the Assistant Director of Broward County Animal Care, during their Celebration of Hispanic Excellence. Dazza, a graduate of Florida International University, was lauded for her efforts in animal welfare and public service. In her role, she oversees shelter operations, field services, and programs that support both animals and pet owners throughout the county. Doug Brightwell, the director of Animal Care, praised her collaborative efforts, stating, "Alyssa has been an effective partner in helping us drive Broward County Animal Care toward the excellence this community deserves."
Over the past two years, Dazza highlighted the department's commitment to enhancing the shelter experience for residents and their animals. "Our team has worked very hard... to produce a high-quality shelter experience for our residents and the animals in our care. We have made tremendous progress toward that goal," she noted.
Additionally, Dazza is pursuing a Master of Science in Shelter Medicine at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, expressing her eagerness to further improve Broward County Animal Care. "I am looking forward to building on that progress as we work with our community to elevate Broward County Animal Care into a world-class shelter," she stated.
Dazza is part of nearly 7,000 employees in Broward County’s government, which operates across 62 agencies under the supervision of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. The acknowledgment by the Florida Panthers spotlights her work and the broader contributions of public servants in a county with over two million residents.
