The Harlingen Health Department will host a free pet vaccination clinic on October 10. Initially, 200 registration spots were available, all of which were filled quickly. However, some registered pet owners live outside of Harlingen city limits, prompting the department to open up additional slots.

Harlingen Environmental Health Director Shannon Harvill noted, "We had 200 available spots for registering and all those spots were filled yesterday. However, some of the people who did register are not from within the city limits. So, we are having to contact them and will open those spots back up."
Approximately 20 additional spots are expected to become available. Each pet requires its own registration, and households can register up to five pets.
Another pet vaccination clinic is scheduled for November.
