Chief Librarian Sidney Phibbons highlighted the library's ongoing collaboration with PAWS, noting that the organization typically holds monthly events focused on its pet food pantry to assist pet owners in need. "A pop-up pet adoption event. We have multiple cats and kittens available to find a new home," Phibbons said, explaining that the cats available for adoption came from various local foster homes.
In addition to facilitating live adoptions, children had the unique opportunity to "adopt" a stuffed kitten and read library books to their new stuffed-animal friends. This event not only promoted pet adoption but also aimed to encourage literacy and engagement with reading among children.
