A recent visit to the Mansfield Canine Centre proved to be a delightful experience for my Rottweiler, Bear. The center recently opened a soft play area and also launched a pet supply shop, alongside reopening its swimming pool due to popular demand. I took Bear to explore all that the facility has to offer.

The center provides a selection of lifejackets for dogs, which is beneficial for those new to swimming or needing extra confidence. Bear, accustomed to swimming monthly at our local pool, eagerly ran up the ramp to enter the water. It's important to note that dog owners are typically required to accompany their pets in the pool. The pool area features changing facilities, making it convenient to shower Bear after his swim, eliminating the need to bring him home wet. There was even dog shampoo available, and using a proper dryer was much quieter than the usual hairdryer at home.
During our visit, Bear also enjoyed the soft play area and discovered a new toy to play with. The facility is equipped with purpose-built equipment suitable for dogs of all sizes. I noticed that several parts of the ground floor had light sensors, allowing owners to monitor their dogs even in less visible areas. Additionally, there is an outdoor space for dogs to relieve themselves or play with outdoor toys. By this time, Bear was feeling tired and took a moment to rest on a sofa before we proceeded to the enrichment room.
The enrichment room focuses on mentally stimulating activities, where dogs can sniff out hidden treats, which is particularly beneficial for older dogs. The staff can also accommodate specific preferences regarding treats, especially for dogs with allergies.
Before leaving, we explored the spacious shop filled with various items, including beds, toys, and food options. Since it was around Christmas, there was a Santa sleigh setup for photos, which Bear eagerly posed in. Overall, our visit was wonderful, thanks in part to the friendly and helpful staff. Although the hour-long drive each way can be challenging, it's well worth it, and we're excited to return in the new year.
