The village is funded through donations and sponsorships and includes six luxury chalets and a communal area known as the “Moggie Mansion.” Each chalet accommodates up to four cats, ensuring they have plenty of space to relax. Cats can roam freely during the day and receive affection from both staff and visitors.
Health monitoring is a key aspect of the village’s operations. Cats are weighed weekly and receive timely veterinary attention during regular checkups. This proactive approach makes the village a reliable choice for pet owners who wish to ensure their senior cats are well cared for when they can no longer provide for them.
To raise awareness about the circumstances that lead senior cats to the Retirement Village, Shropshire Cat Rescue created an explanatory video, which is eligible for voting at the Smiley Charity Films Awards—a platform aimed at boosting charity fundraising through film.
Looking ahead, Shropshire Cat Rescue plans to relocate to a larger 10-acre property to expand their facilities, particularly the Retirement Village, to better support the growing demand for their services.
