The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for dogs from September 2 to September 5 as the facility has reached capacity. Currently, the shelter is caring for 700 pets, including 373 housed in the shelter and 327 in foster care.

Johny Sandoval, Animal Welfare superintendent, emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "Our team is working around the clock and reaching out to rescue and transfer partners to help more pets, but adoption remains the most direct and effective way to make an impact."
The waiver applies to dogs marked with a blue kennel card. All adopted dogs will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and receive age-appropriate vaccinations.
The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, located at 2811 SE 29th St., is open for adoptions Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Pets in foster care are also available for adoption outside of regular hours. Those interested can view available pets and adoption details on the shelter's website.
