Joni Dalley, hailing from Alta, Wyoming, is set to join the Class of 2027 at Washington State University (WSU) after earning her undergraduate degree in Biology from Boise State University. Her primary interest lies in mixed animal and rural medicine.

Having grown up near the Wyoming-Idaho border, Joni developed a strong connection with rural communities and their animals, guiding her ambition to become a mixed animal veterinarian dedicated to serving her home region.
In her ideal veterinary practice, Joni envisions a varied day that includes tackling challenging cases in small animal internal medicine, ensuring puppies and kittens are off to a healthy start, and spending afternoons tending to cattle on a farm.
“Veterinary medicine is an incredible blend of science, medicine, empathy, and service,” Joni noted. She recognizes the significant benefits that veterinary professionals provide to both humans and animals and feels honored to be part of that tradition.
At WSU, Joni highlights the importance of learning from esteemed faculty and forming lasting relationships with mentors as significant aspects of her educational journey. Following her DVM, she plans to engage in mixed-animal general and emergency medicine in rural areas of Idaho or Wyoming.
Expressing gratitude for her peers in the Class of 2027, she describes the strong bond they share, emphasizing their support for one another throughout veterinary school. “I am so grateful to my friends and classmates who I have gotten to share my life with over the past three and a half years,” she said.
Outside of her academic pursuits, Joni enjoys horseback riding in the mountains, fishing with her husband Alvin, reading, and styling hair for friends and family during special occasions. She also lives with her pets, including Ashes, a domestic longhair cat who has impressively learned to use the toilet.
