The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals (NFRSA) has partnered with the Henley-based Big Dog Bed Company (BDBC) to introduce a new line of Blue Light Tartan dog beds to support retired service animals. Proceeds from the sales will directly benefit the charity, which aids in covering veterinary and ongoing care costs for retired service dogs and horses across the UK.

These specialized beds offer a comfortable resting place for pets while honoring emergency service heroes with the Blue Light Tartan design. The collection launched last week, with beds priced at £169 each, with all sales proceeds going to the NFRSA.

The NFRSA supports the owners of retired service animals, ensuring they have access to necessary healthcare after a lifetime of service in demanding roles. Countess Bathurst, founder and Chair of the NFRSA, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Our retired service animals have done extraordinary things throughout their lives. Their owners adore them, but sadly love alone doesn’t pay a veterinary bill, and that is where we can help.” She further noted that the bed collection provides both comfort for pet owners and assistance for retired service animals.

Lady Bathurst, a customer of BDBC, initiated the collaboration, which resulted in two cushion styles: Signature, designed for active dogs, and Active Recovery, suitable for pets with arthritis and other joint issues. The beds feature waterproof, machine-washable covers that resist stains and odors, ensuring durability for pets prone to messes.

Both styles come with a three-year guarantee covering materials and manufacturing. Dru Ross, founder of BDBC, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “We’re delighted the NFRSA got in touch and chose us to make the Blue Light Tartan beds and help raise money for this special charity.” He assured that customers would not only receive a quality product but also contribute to a good cause.
