Founder Norma Milton reported that they have rescued cats from various locations, including Caribou, Fort Fairfield, and Van Buren. Some of the kittens they have encountered suffer from severe ear mite infections that require emergency veterinary care. "We’re working very hard right now on rescues. We’re engaged with three large colonies, each housing 15 to 20 nursing babies who are arriving heavily infested with fleas and ticks," Milton explained. She highlighted the alarming health issues, noting, "You look at the babies and say, 'Look how big and fat he is.' He’s fat because he’s full of worms, which are making them anemic. I’ve seen some really bad cases."
Volunteer Kim Jalbert recounted rescuing a cat that was reported as abandoned, stating they are trying to restore the animals' health and find them homes. The organization is urgently seeking donations and foster homes to manage the increasing number of intake cases. Specifically, they need distemper vaccines, deworming medication (Nemex), flea treatment (Capstar), and parasite prevention (Revolution Plus). Donations can be made at 10 Pioneer Avenue in Caribou. For further information or to offer foster care, Kim Jalbert can be contacted via email at [email protected].
