Oslund noted that many visitors are surprised to find a cat café in El Paso, often questioning if the cats on site are real. The café encourages interaction, allowing guests to pet the cats. Oslund partners with El Paso Animal Services to rescue overlooked cats, providing them with a comfortable environment before adoption.
Visitors can enjoy the cat lounge for $7 for 30 minutes or $10 for an hour while also ordering beverages. The café recently added a gaming shelf with free games for customers to play.
Since its establishment, Sun City Kitty has facilitated over 200 cat adoptions by 2024. Each adopted cat is sent home spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, with adoption fees supporting the rescue partner, Team Kitten.
The café aims to create a community space where families can relax. Oslund mentioned that many parents enjoy coffee while their children color and interact with the cats. Sun City Kitty operates Monday through Saturday from 11 A.M. to 8 P.M. and Sunday from 12 P.M. to 6 P.M.
