The owners of a farm and dog exercise park in Idle have submitted an application to Bradford Council for a temporary swimming pool designed for dogs. A decision on the proposal is anticipated later this month. The pool is intended to operate from April to September and is part of the couple's efforts to diversify their offerings, as they find that their farm is not large enough for beef or dairy production.
Lazenby stated, "The livery yard will stay, it'll work in between everything. We've just got to keep things going, but in a different way." The couple envisions the pool as a space where dog owners can accompany their pets, emphasizing that it will be a low-impact, seasonal structure suited to the agricultural character of the area.
The application highlights that the proposed pool would be located in a fenced area and is intended to provide a safe environment for both training and recreational swimming for dogs. It is designed to be easily dismantled at the end of the season and removed during the winter months.
Lazenby added that the pool could also serve therapeutic purposes, providing hydrotherapy for dogs recovering from illnesses. If granted permission, they hope to open the facility by early May.
