Founded in 2003 as Pug Rescue of Florida, the organization is a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue group. It expanded in 2021 by acquiring official licensing as a Georgia foster-based rescue and adopted the name Pug Rescue of Florida & Georgia. The group operates through a network of volunteers and foster homes, supported by fundraising and contributions from private individuals and businesses.
Each year, the rescue organization saves approximately 195 pugs and pug mixes from surrenders, shelters, and unsafe situations, incurring over $349,000 annually for rehabilitation, rescue, and rehoming efforts.
