The vaccine has successfully completed extensive laboratory evaluations, including tests for sterility, purity, safety, genetic stability, immunogenicity, protective efficacy, and virulence reversion. Field validation was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, further confirming its safety and effectiveness under real-world conditions.
The vaccine is intended for healthy pigs over eight weeks of age, administered as a 1 mL intramuscular injection, with a booster given 14 days after the initial dose. Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, attended the announcement.
Dr. M.L. Jat, Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, commented that this development signifies a new era in veterinary science. He noted that this achievement showcases India's expanding scientific capabilities in developing high-quality animal health solutions and sets the stage for future indigenously developed vaccines.
