Veterinarians Dr. Starr Cameron and Dr. Michael Khan shared their research on canine and feline cognition, addressing the prevention, treatment, and common misconceptions surrounding CDS. While some cognitive decline is a natural aspect of aging in pets, many older animals experience significant impacts due to this condition, affecting their quality of life and the bond with their owners. Early diagnosis and appropriate interventions can slow or even reverse the decline in some cases.
Dr. Kelly Diehl, Senior Director of Science Communication at Morris Animal Foundation, emphasized the growing prevalence of CDS, stating, "Cognitive declines affect thousands of dogs and cats. As they are living longer, CDS is impacting more pets and their families. This webinar is a great way for pet parents to learn the latest information about the disease and how they can keep their pets happy and healthy."
Pet owners can find additional information about cognitive health by exploring resources specific to dogs and cats, as well as listening to a podcast episode dedicated to CDS in dogs.
