The video evidence shows a vehicle containing two individuals who exited and removed rocks and plants before fleeing the scene. Operations manager Bridget Macdonald expressed disappointment, stating, "It's just a really big bummer that it happened."
The stolen materials had been utilized last year to create a beneficial walking path featuring various plants to provide different scents for the dogs. Macdonald noted that the dogs typically enjoy multiple walks daily and that the path was essential for their enrichment.
This trail, funded by donations, is now in disrepair, and the shelter is feeling the impact of the loss. Macdonald explained, "We're a dog shelter trying to help the community. And then just to see someone stealing our stuff that we put our time into is super hurtful."
Due to a full shelter and various responsibilities, Macdonald mentioned that replacing the stolen items could be challenging. She encouraged anyone with landscaping materials to consider donating, emphasizing that it would greatly assist the dogs at the shelter.
The shelter is in contact with local authorities regarding the theft and hopes for accountability from those responsible. Macdonald added, "Even just an apology. We're not harsh people; we don't want anything bad to happen, but just acknowledge it and say you're sorry and maybe see how you can help."
