Mandy Evans, BTAA President and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about Dr. Neher's appointment, highlighting her experience in animal shelter medicine, along with her clinical and surgical skills, as vital contributions to the organization’s veterinary care offerings.

Dr. Talitha Neher, a native of Sandpoint, earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 2004. Her collaboration with BTAA reinforces the nonprofit’s community-based approach to animal welfare. BTAA services over 8,000 animals each year through initiatives such as low-cost spay and neuter programs, Trap-Neuter-Return for community cats, a pet support hotline, and the Pets for Life program that assists pets in under-resourced neighborhoods.

Funding for these programs comes from private donations, grants, fees, and revenue generated by the organization’s volunteer-led thrift store. Evans noted the community's essential role in supporting the organization's efforts, emphasizing the importance of veterinary care in maintaining pet health and preventing crises.
