The British Veterinary Association (BVA) has announced the opening of nominations for the 2027 BVA Awards, which aim to highlight the exceptional contributions of veterinary professionals across various specialisms in the UK. Nominations will be accepted until 23 November 2026, with winners to be revealed at the annual awards dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Thursday, 11 March 2027, during the BVA Live event.

Awards categories include:

- **BVA Young Vet of the Year**, supported by Zoetis, which honors outstanding contributions from early-career vets. The winner receives £1,000 in prize money, a year of free BVA membership, among other prizes.

- **BVA Veterinary Mentor Award**, supported by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, recognizes a mentor who has made a significant impact in the veterinary field, accompanied by a £1,000 prize.

- **BVA Wellbeing Awards**, which acknowledge veterinary workplaces that prioritize team wellbeing, with winners receiving enhanced online recruitment listings.

- **BVA One Health and Sustainability Award**, in memory of Dr. Simon Doherty, celebrating veterinary-led sustainability initiatives.

- **BVA Veterinary Leader Award**, honoring leaders who drive positive change and innovation in the field.

- **BVA Outstanding Service Award**, awarded to individuals with exceptional service to the profession or animal welfare, and recognized internationally.

- **BVA Advancement of Veterinary Science Award** (Dalrymple-Champneys Cup and Medal), for BVA members who advance veterinary science through research and knowledge sharing.

- **BVA Animal Health and Welfare Overseas Award** (J. Trevor Blackburn Award), recognizing contributions to improving animal health overseas.

- The **Vet Record Impact Award**, for the most impactful research paper published in Vet Record over the past year, will also be awarded.

Past winners include Anna Hewison, who was awarded BVA Young Vet of the Year in 2026 for her high care standards, Sharon King for the Veterinary Mentor Award for her supportive role, and Paul Horwood for the Veterinary Leader Award for his principled leadership.

BVA Live will return on March 11–12, 2027, at the NEC Birmingham, featuring a diverse exhibition and Continuing Professional Development sessions.
