Seven-year-old twins Penelope and Adalynn Alexander from Red Bluff, California, are hosting a lemonade stand on Saturday, August 29, to raise funds for the medical care of rescue animals.

The twins' initiative aims to help cover the expenses associated with caring for rescued animals, particularly a kitten named Captain Hook, who requires surgery to remove a damaged eye. Their mother, Angel Christianson, has been involved in animal rescue for most of her life and has financed many of their efforts out of pocket.
Originally, Christianson considered finding another rescue organization for Captain Hook. However, Penelope proposed the idea of hosting a lemonade stand to raise the necessary funds.
In addition to Captain Hook, the Alexander family is nurturing his sister Mochi, four other cats, five dogs, and several horses. The sisters aspire to establish their own rescue organization in the future.
The lemonade stand will be located at 11736 State Hwy 99 E, just north of Jill's Market, starting at 9 AM until supplies last. They also have a GoFundMe page set up to assist with funding for Captain Hook's surgery.
