Holtzman, known for his role as Chuck on NBC's "The Blacklist," praised the shelter staff for their professionalism and care during their visits. "As soon as we went there, we were like, ‘OK, no matter what or when, we’re getting our puppy from here,’" he stated.

During their initial meeting with Avocado, the puppy was nervous and unwilling to engage. Uncertain about how her calm demeanor would fit into their active lifestyle, the couple left to consider their options. However, after just 8 to 10 minutes, Margolies felt they would be devastated if someone else adopted her. They promptly turned their car around and completed the adoption.

Once at home, Avocado displayed an energetic personality, often jumping into her water bowl and attempting to escape her pen. The couple noted that she is adjusting well, becoming more confident each day, and they hope to include her in hikes and outdoor activities.

Margolies expressed joy in watching Avocado's personality emerge, saying, "It’s just really special to see that personality come out and see her feel so comfortable, and just happy to be loved, which we hope to give her a ton of." For her first camera appearance, Holtzman described Avocado as calm and sleeping in their arms, commenting, "She’s playing the role very well. Perfect doggy."
