The strength of the college's community is largely due to the dedication of staff members who manage various aspects of student programs, clinical operations, animal care, human resources, and more. Their efforts are critical to the college's success.

However, a significant issue facing the college is the recruitment and retention of licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs). Although the existing LVTs are committed and skilled, their numbers are insufficient. In human healthcare, efficient clinics employ multiple nurses per physician, but in the college's veterinary hospital, the ideal is often unmet, with one LVT supporting numerous doctors. This shortage is exacerbated by a general lack of veterinary staff across the state and nation, alongside challenges such as burnout, inadequate pay, and team dynamics that prevent LVTs from performing to their full potential. The college is exploring solutions, including the potential development of an LVT training program.

In reviewing nominations for the annual staff awards, 20 individuals were recognized, many accompanied by multiple letters of support. The praise was abundant, highlighting exceptional teamwork and leadership qualities. This exercise in recognition serves as an important reminder of the contributions staff make to the community.

The college continues to invite engagement from the community, with updates available on its news page and social media platforms. The Dean concludes by encouraging everyone to maintain hope and positivity.
