Beginning fundraising activities on July 15 and continuing through September 15, this year's campaign encourages individuals to donate to their chosen shelters or to a general fund that benefits multiple organizations. Those interested in participating can find information on the shelters involved at ClearTheSheltersFund.org.
In the previous year's campaign, over 160,000 pets found homes and more than $628,000 was raised, marking the highest totals since 2020. The 2025 campaign featured more than 1,700 shelters and rescues across 49 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam, with the support of 129 NBC and Telemundo stations.
Meredith McGinn, Executive Vice President of Diginets & Original Production at NBCUniversal Local, emphasized the campaign's positive impact, acknowledging the collaboration of various partners, especially Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Hill’s is returning for the ninth year, this time as the campaign’s presenting sponsor, providing support and adoption kits to select shelters.
Fundraising will again be coordinated by Greater Good Charities, with donations accepted from July 15 through September 15 for the general fund and from August 1 to 31 for individual shelters via ClearTheSheltersFund.org.
WeRescue continues its role as the exclusive technology partner, offering tools for users to find adoptable pets based on various criteria, while also introducing a feature to help match prospective pet parents.
The Black Dog will partner with the campaign for the second consecutive year, allowing customers to round up purchases for donations and creating special merchandise with half of the proceeds going to the fund.
