Unlike traditional extrusion methods, cold pressing employs a gentle technique that avoids high heat and steam, preserving the natural nutrients, flavor, and integrity of the ingredients. This results in a nutrient-dense food that dogs can digest more easily, allowing for concentrated nutrition in smaller portions.

Ryan Wilson, CEO of American Pet Nutrition, emphasized the rising interest among pet owners regarding both the ingredients and the production methods of dog food. He stated, "Cold pressing allows us to offer a different approach to dry dog food that preserves more of what makes those ingredients valuable," adding that the method has been successful in Europe for many years. Wilson expressed excitement about partnering with Walmart and Food Lion to increase accessibility for U.S. consumers.

Supreme Source Cold Pressed Dog Food will be available in select Walmart stores nationwide starting in September and will roll out to all Food Lion locations in October. The products will also be listed online on the Walmart website.

The launch features two recipes: Supreme Source Cold Pressed Chicken Recipe Dog Food and Supreme Source Cold Pressed Salmon Recipe Dog Food. While cold-pressed dog food has been popular in Europe for over a decade, it is still gaining traction in the U.S., providing pet owners with a premium alternative to traditional kibble that offers convenient shelf-stable dry food.

Both new recipes contain real meat and carefully chosen ingredients aimed at promoting digestive health and overall wellness. The Chicken Recipe includes chicken, pumpkin, carrots, sweet potato, and salmon oil, while the Salmon Recipe offers another high-quality protein choice for pet owners. Like other Supreme Source recipes, the cold-pressed foods feature sustainably sourced seaweed to enhance digestion and nutrient absorption.

This retail launch is part of American Pet Nutrition's ongoing efforts to enter grocery and mass retail markets, reflecting rising consumer and retailer demand for premium pet nutrition. Early feedback on APN’s cold-pressed products has been encouraging, generating momentum for introducing this format to a wider audience.
