Executive Director Marit Ortega expressed disbelief at the incident, stating, "This doesn't happen on the regular, so we're in a bit of shock." She emphasized that the shelter is focused on recovering Marin without casting judgment on the person involved.
Marin was discovered on the road last month with a severe eye infection, which the shelter treated using a special serum derived from a dog's blood donation. While his health has significantly improved, he still requires ongoing medical attention to ensure a complete recovery. Ortega noted the organization’s concern that the individual may not be aware of Marin's medical conditions, saying, "We're really hoping that they'll do the right thing and bring it back."
