The incident occurred while the dog's owner and two friends were shopping at a nearby grocery store, unaware that their pet was trapped inside the burning vehicle. To escape the intense heat and smoke, the dog had retreated to the back of the car.
Firefighters from Engine 7 arrived quickly, extinguishing the flames before working to rescue the animal. Upon reaching the dog, they found it in distress, with melted whiskers and showing symptoms of smoke inhalation. The firefighters administered oxygen and provided emergency care as they monitored the dog's condition.
As time passed and the treatment continued, the dog's situation improved. Eventually, the rescue pup regained its strength, running around and joyfully reuniting with its owner. Reflecting on the successful operation, the firefighters of Engine 7 remarked, "That's why we do what we do."
