2. Tabby
3. British shorthair
4. Semi-long hair
5. Mixed breed
Other breeds that also appear among the top ten include Bengal, Tortoiseshell, Maine Coon, Ragdoll, and Siamese.
Rhys Jones, a pet insurance expert at Go Compare, highlighted that while losing a pet can be distressing, owners can take preventive measures. He emphasized the importance of microchipping as the most effective way to ensure pets can be identified and reunited with their owners if lost. Microchipping is mandatory for cats and dogs, and some insurance policies require it for coverage related to lost pets.
In addition to microchipping, pet insurance can help cover costs associated with locating lost pets, including advertising expenses or even potential rewards for their return.
The report also covered dog breeds most likely to go missing. It found that terriers rank as the most frequently lost breed, with Yorkshire and border terriers being particularly prone to going missing. The top five dog breeds identified were:

4. Spaniel
5. Chihuahua
