A new cat cafe, Cafe Purrfection, is set to open in mid-November 2026 on Naperville's Route 59 corridor. The establishment will allow customers to enjoy coffee while interacting with cats available for adoption, a project led by owner Carol Jamil.

Jamil's first business venture will feature a walk-in coffee area, although she encourages visitors wishing to spend time with the cats to book in advance for dedicated slots in the cat-play room. She expressed her passion for working with animals after spending nearly 20 years as a stay-at-home mom.

Located at 1550 N. Route 59, near McDowell Road and the developing Block 59 area, Cafe Purrfection joins other notable dining establishments such as Velvet Taco and The Cheesecake Factory.

The cafe will feature a coffee area and a separate room for cat interactions, similar to Chicago's Catcade, which operated under the city’s Animal Cafe permit. Jamil plans to offer prepackaged snacks and beverages, many with cat-themed names, to customers.

Up to 10 rescue cats from the Animal Rescue Foundation, based in Wheaton, will be housed in the play area and can be adopted through the cafe. The partnership with this volunteer-driven organization, which has been rescuing over 1,000 homeless cats and dogs annually since 1985, is aimed at facilitating adoptions.

The Animal Rescue Foundation typically relies on foster homes for sheltering animals, while Cafe Purrfection will provide a public space for potential adopters to meet the cats. The cafe recently showcased its menu and hosted drink tastings at a community event organized by the Animal Rescue Foundation.

This opening comes at a challenging time for DuPage County's public shelter system, which reported a 30% increase in kitten intakes year-over-year as of August, resulting in overcrowding at its Wheaton facility.

Cafe Purrfection will add to the growing trend of rescue-oriented cat cafes, further integrating the community with animal adoption efforts, as seen with venues like Chicago's Catcade.
