National Dog Week, running from September 20 to 26, will feature Bark Fest 2026, a community event in Grand Rapids that brings together 27 organizations dedicated to dogs and their owners. Scheduled for Saturday, September 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at K9 Resorts Grand Rapids, located at 3345 28th St. SE, this free event will showcase local rescue and adoption groups, service dog organizations, veterinary offices, and specialty pet businesses.

Bark Fest aims to connect dog owners and prospective pet owners with various organizations in the local dog community. Attendees can meet adoptable dogs, gain insights on responsible dog ownership, and access resources related to pet care and animal welfare.
Participating organizations include the Humane Society of West Michigan, Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue, Golden Retriever Rescue of Michigan, Maybel’s Legacy, Unleashed Love Pet Rescue, Paws With A Cause, and Pleasant Hearts Dog Food Pantry, among others. These groups will provide a range of services, from showcasing adoptable dogs to offering support for families needing assistance with pet care.
Megan Ivaska, co-owner of K9 Resorts Grand Rapids, highlighted the importance of the event during National Dog Week. She stated, “Bark Fest is designed to give our community a direct opportunity to meet adoptable dogs and consider opening their homes to a new family member.”
The event will feature a farmers market-style setup, with organizations and vendors positioned throughout the venue. Bark Fest is free and open to the public.
