Eighteen dogs have been rescued from a property in Salisbury following an animal welfare investigation by the Humane Society of Wicomico County, which is still searching for four missing dogs. Animal Control officers responded to the scene at around 11:50 a.m. on September 1 and initially discovered two adult dogs with two residents inside a shed. Officials requested immediate assistance from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Wicomico County Code Enforcement, and City of Salisbury Animal Control due to poor living conditions.
Several other dogs were found roaming freely around the property. The living conditions were described as unsanitary, with many dogs in poor physical shape. Additional animals were located after officers entered the home, which was also reported to have unsanitary conditions.
The majority of the recovered dogs are Springer Spaniel mixes, including both puppies and adults. Authorities seized 17 dogs on September 1, with one more collected the following day, bringing the total to 18.
The Humane Society has confirmed that the recovered dogs are now receiving veterinary care, treatment, and proper nutrition. Once the dogs are medically cleared, they will be available for adoption. The organization is currently seeking monetary donations to support ongoing care expenses.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the welfare of the animals remains active, and efforts continue to locate the four dogs that are still missing.
